Honestly, I never really got into doing prepoos even before this whole "natural regimen" I got going on. I think I've done prepoo treatments about 5 times over the course of seven years of being natural lol. It's not that I don't feel like they help I guess it's just because... I don't know, I was too lazy and just didn't see the point.
Honestly, now that I cleanse my scalp by means of apple cider vinegar and bentonite clay, I truly don't see the point still. Only reason I'm doing it is because of.... you guessed it! Laziness.
Normally, when I get home from work, I began the first half of my wash day by finger detangling, cleansing and rinsing it all out and applying deep conditioner to my hair and letting it sit overnight. Two reasons why I've decided to merge my entire wash day into one day...
- I'm too tired to finger detangle my hair these days (which means I'll probably be more prone to rip tangles apart instead of take my time to smooth them out) and...
- I'm over the whole "sleeping on a towel-draped pillow that's soaking wet by morning" thing...
So, to "prepoo", all I truly did was apply castor oil to dry, not-dampened-in-any-way hair and ended up with 8 castor oil-soaked twists that eventually made it's way underneath a plastic bag and satin scarf. I'll be leaving this in overnight and I'm hoping that finger detangling will be a breeze in the morning. Since castor oil is such a heavy oil (and one my hair loves), it helps in stretching my hair out and it also adds LOADS of slip. So I figured sopping it in some golden oily goodness could only make finger detangling even MORE of a breeze since my hair has been stretched all week.
Yes. I am anticipating a very smooth sailing wash day tomorrow. :) And who knows, if this adds a noticeable benefit, this may become apart of the new routine!
But until next time,
♥ Keep calm 'n coily ♥
