Initial Reactions:

I'm not usually the "product junkie" type, I don't feel. But! I got this product on a "spur of the moment" type thing. I was going to Sally's to get some more of my faithful deep conditioner (ORS Replenishing Conditioner...the gigantic bottle... the only way I do!! lol) but alas, my specific Sally's did not sell the one I was looking for. UGH!

As I ended up purchasing something else and when I get to checkout, the cashier informs me that my card was up for renewal and if I renewed today, I could get one of these hair treatments for free. At the time, they were on sale for $6.99 so being able to get that entirely free? Hey, I was game! Besides, I love Sally's! lol

So, there's two types I believe, but because this one had shea butter in it, I was already sold. I think the other one was like Argan Oil. I've heard about it before, I have no idea how it affects my hair, so I didn't want to waste a free product for something my hair would not like completely...

So I got home, opened the product. Initially, I actually really love the packaging. Don't ask me why or whatever, but I don't know... just intrigued me. lol

When I opened it, first thing was the smell. If a product does not smell good, I most likely WON'T be using it since in the past, I battled a lot with smelly hair. =/ This product has a very soft, very "there-but-not-there" scent and I like it. It's very powdery in my opinion like... a subtle scent of coconuts or something? It's barely overpowering but I like it nevertheless.

I don't know how many people are out there like me, but whenever I see something that's ten dollars and only sold in an 8 oz, I bounce!

I can be very heavy-handed with products, and not only that, I like to get a lot of uses out of every product I buy. Which is why a lot of times, I will buy all my stuff in bulk so that I won't have to be out buying it again within two weeks... it's just... bothersome (especially if it has to be SHIPPED!!!).

With this product, I was really surprised at the consistency. It was extremely creamy and extremely, extremely thick!

I just was not expecting this product to be as thick as it was. It was thick like it was it's own hair butter. It had a pretty dense thickness in my opinion and I instantly knew I would get a lot of use from my product.

And like I said, it was also very creamy which, to me, meant it was going to go on smoothe, it coat my hair easily and be no problem. I was really excited to try this after that!

Normal Routine:

Okay, so after rinsing out my clay treatment, what normally follows!? The deep conditioning phase. To make sure, my hair got the most of the product without using up so much, I divided my hair into 4 parts and lightly rinsed over each section and then applied the masque.

As I initially expected, it glided through my hair so easily and my curls instantly began to melt into it's creamy goodness!! Because the product was so thick, I think I actually was able to use maybe about one quarter and a half's worth of product in each section. And honestly, that barely put a dent in it. I probably could've been a bit more heavy handed but really was no use for it.

Twisted up each section and allowed it to sit under a plastic cap until I was ready for it again...

Finishing Up:

Now if you've been following for a minute, you understand how rarely I ever rinse deep conditioners out of my hair. And this one was no exception to the rule. For me, my hair seems to like when I leave deep conditioners in. For someone else, this process may not work so the results may be different for you.

But for me, when I took down each twists I can say that my curls were very moist, they looked really hydrated (isn't that what we're going for???). And after initial styling and finishing up of wash day entirely, I can see that my hair had a little more extra shine to it than normal. Definitely was very soft, I can't get over that! My ORS usually leaves my hair feeling moist and silk-like, but I have to say, this one really equaled out the results, maybe bypassed it just a wee bit...

Final Thoughts:

Overall, I LOVE!!!!!!

From the thickness of the product to the way it smoothed out my curls, the way it smells to the way it's packaged, I'm really digging this product and glad I decided to give it a try!

It really does fit in my routine and the way I style my hair, and even aided in more shine and softness. Definite, Definite repurchase in my opinion.

Does it replace my ORS deep conditioner?

I can't say right now. It definitely gives ORS a run for their money. But the smell does not top ORS for me (sucker for those fruity smells!), and I'm not sure how product usage compares. Obviously, I'll have to use this product to the very last drop before I can compare that. I know, on a good day with ORS, even with being a little heavy handed, I can get about 6 uses out of it. Maybe 7or 8, but that might be pushing it.

I don't doubt I can get a lot of uses out of this product though. I'm banking on about 4-5 more uses but we'll see. But for a $10 deep conditioning product? It really wasn't bad at all and it's a great alternative to my ORS deep conditoner!

But until next time,

♥ Keep it calm 'n coily ♥
