I've been moisturizing my hair with aloe vera juice, shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie, flaxseed gel and castor oil for about 2 or 3 days now and I gotta say... I'm not loving the way my hair feels.
When I take it out in the morning, it feels kind of sticky and damp and at the end of the day, it feels like sticky straw. I'm not sure what is making it feel...tough....it's like "soft" tough and I don't like that feeling. Last night I set it in braids and this morning, since it was still fairly damp for the braids I decided to see how well flaxseed gel does with holding down a ponypuff. And I gotta say, it turned out fairly nice.
I just dampened down the top with water on my soft boar bristle brush and then smoothed on quite a bit of flaxseed gel down along with my brush. I then tied my scarf down over it and allowed it to airdry during my drive to work.
The gel itself held down my hair pretty well throughout the day. It did what it was supposed to do. Of course, it doesn't have hold quite as close to ecostyler gel. But for an au naturale alternative? I think it was pretty awesome!
Tonight, I just misted my hair with aloe vera juice and twisted it into 6 chunky twists and covered with my satin bonnet. I'm not sure if it'll make my hair softer or not. I'm trying to pinpoint exactly what is making my hair feel so hard and straw-like at the end of the day. I realize my hair will feel dry at the end of the day but... I don't know, I just don't like that straw feeling I'm getting when I'm moisturizing my hair constantly.
Time to go back digging through some old hair notebooks lol.
So until next time...
