So I'm trying to beat the whole "go six months doing what I always do only to realize that it's not working phase" and just try and incorporate all and everything that I know helps me and my hair retain growth. And alot of that is gonna be contributed to protective styling HEAVILY this year, I already know. But in a whole, I'm gonna spruce up my regimen just a tad at least for next 3-6 months, just to make sure it's working.
Since I'll be protective styling, especially for the next 6 months, I'm not sure how often wash day will be. PS to me is usually twisting my hair and twists usually last me for at least 2 weeks. So my wash day may be every 2 weeks at least for the next 6 months. It depends, cause I might still take down my hair every week and wash. I would like to keep to deep conditioning weekly since my hair REALLY responds to that and loves it, but if it's bi-weekly, I'm sure it wouldn't KILL my hair...hopefully. It's either low-manipulation or deep conditioning...lol, I'll see.
I'll also try to get back to daily scalp massages. Last year when I did this for a good 3 months, I got a lot of length and my hair felt thicker and looked shinier and was alot healthier. So I'm gonna try to get back to doing that on a nightly basis, especially when I have my hair twisted up....like now.
Something else I would like to start giving a shot and which will probably replace every other weekly deep conditioning, is a hot oil treatment//oil rinse. I'm thinking that one week, I'll deep condition with my deep conditioner and detangle and all that jazz, and the following week I do an oil rinse. I'm not sure how that will fair out, never really tried it out before. I think I did once but I barely remember the results. So I'm excited to start doing that.
Other than that....oh yeah!
I'm gonna slow down with the trimming. =(
Granted I WILL do another slight trim on March 19 or 20 for the sake of testing out the lunar cycles but that'll be IT...until 3 months to the Summer Solstice. So I'll technically only be trimming once during this whole 6 month period. My ends really don't NEED it so I may not do another length check, or I might, we'll see.
But other than that, just loads of protective styling.
So things that I'm adding: daily scalp massages, weekly deep conditionings (alternate with conditioner//oil rinses), less trims (ESPECIALLY cosmetic reasons), and loads more protective styles.
I'm SO SERIOUS about making waist length and I'm not saying I will reach it in the 6 month period, but I just want to make sure I get out of this MBL funk I'm in. I think I need 2 inches to reach waist length or a really GOOD 2.5-3 inches to REALLY make waist length (lol) so I dunno, I may make it by the time the 6 month period is up, but I just want to make sure this regimen is going to work.
We'll just have to see.
♥ and keep it coily ♥
