Sooo the yarn braids have been completely taken down! I actually was really missing my hair though I didn't have the time to do it. I took the yarn braids down over the course of like 3 days doing a bit at a time starting from the back so that I could easily turn it into a ponytail and wrap my scarf around it and act like nothing ever happened in the world.
I fingercombed each braid as I took them down to remove as much buildup and shed hair as possible. When the section got big enough I would twist it into a fairly chunky twists and keep on with removing more braids. When all the braids were taken down, I commenced to doing my normal wash day routine applying my deep conditioner and oil mix and detangling with my conair wide tooth comb and denman and twisting up each detangled section as I went. Ended up with 10 twists, 5 on each side. Covered with about 3 plastic caps and let it sit for about 3 hours.
Washed in the sink with suave's rosemary mint shampoo then lightly re-conditioned with suave's strawberry conditioner and then completely rinsed that out. Moisturized and sealed and massaged my scalp and then put my bonnet over it and called it a day. That was like....what? Two days ago? Something like that, so my hair is still in those wash day twists until I figure out WHAT I'm going to do.
I'm starting to get that "I don't feel like my hair is growing" feeling again when I really should realize that it is. But it shrinks up alot in my wash day twists since I don't try to stretch it or manipulate it much during this period so it always looks sooooo incredibly shooooort!
I came reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaally close to blowdrying it the other night after wash day was complete but alas I was like "No!" I must finish this 6 month super spurt challenge as strong as possible! lol I seriously ALMOST gave in and I still might. I may blowdry it or whatever a week earlier than December 31, but we'll see. I'm just eager to enjoy my hair more and what better time then when the weather is cooler and my hair won't be permitted to SUFFOCATE me in the freakin HEAT of a merciless SUMMER!!!!?
